The trip I went on was wonderful! I will continue to explain.
So on Wednesday June 18 my sister and I loaded our luggage into our dad's car then we and our family drove to our church, where everyone was meeting.
So we get to church at 5:15 as requested. For the next 45 minuets we watch the adults and a few of the boys try to get everyone's luggage to fit in the underneath storage. Eventually we get everything to fit and it's time to board the bus. We ended up leaving the church parking lot somewhere around 6pm which was our goal. So seats get chosen and drinks and snacks passed around. It would take forever and be fairly boring for me to explain the whole 18 hour bus ride.
18 hours?
Yeah, and that didn't even get us close to Colorado.
We drove almost non-stop from our church to Frontier School of the Bible in Wyoming. We slept (or tried to) on the bus Wednesday night. We made a few bathroom stops during the night and one stop for breakfast in the morning.
We went through some bad storms (if you live on/near the east coast you'll know what I'm talking about because some of those storms came this way).
Our amazing youth pastor, P.T drove the whole night, WITHOUT SLEEPING. We had various people from our group keeping him awake throughout the night by playing the Alphabet game and talking about theology.
I did not get any sleep on the bus that night so when we finally got to FSB I was just about ready to crash.
We all got to pick our rooms (within reason, boys in the boys dorm and girls in the girls dorm.).
I roomed with one of my best friends and my sister was down the hall with some of the other girls.
When we got into the rooms I looked around a realized that I didn't pack a sleeping bag (because I never got the packing list), I had only brought one pillow and one tiny blanket. There were no sheets on the bed.
Also, we were supposed to bring towels for the shower. Did I have one? No.
One of my friends had brought a huge fleece blanket so she let me borrow her sleeping bag. (Thanks G!)
As for the showers? I was out of luck.
So we had lunch and dinner at FSB and after dinner we got a tour of the campus and an opportunity for the youth ensemble to rehearse our song. (We preformed I can only Imagine by Bart Millard/Mercy Me)
I didn't sleep very well that night either. It was good to sleep on a mattress but the beds were super creaky, some girls forgot about the time change and set their alarms for 4 in the morning and there was a train that went by in the middle of the night.
On Friday we went to the United States Air Force Academy and we also toured Focus on the Family.
I have pictures from those stops but you'll have to wait until tomorrow's post. ;)
